YOUTH APPLICATION

If your son is not already registered as a Cub Scout you will need to complete a BSA Youth Application. You may also get this in hard copy form from the Cubmaster or the Western Massachusetts Council office. Submit completed Youth Applications to the Cubmaster. If you are interested in becoming a youth leader along with your son, inquire with with the Cubmaster.


DUES

Inquire about dues new scouts which are pro-rated if you join for the remainder of the scouting year (ie. Sept.-Dec.). Annual dues from January-December includes unit registration for the local and national council, BSA accident insurance, Boy's Life magazine, advancement awards, and operating expenses of the pack. Dues for 2015 are $40 for youths, $27 for second siblings (minus Boy's Life subscription). Checks may be made out to BSA Pack 20 and delivered to the Cubmaster.

 

HEALTH FORM

You will also need to fill out BSA Health and Medical Record or supply a recent copy of a school medical form for your son. This should be updated annually and given to the Cubmaster in case of emergency. Click here for a .pdf edit-able copy of the BSA Health and Medical Record. It does not need to be signed by your child's physician.

 

UNIFORM

Your son should wear an official Cub Scout uniform. It provides a sense of belonging to the Scouting organization and displays his personal achievements. The uniform should be worn neatly to all den meetings and pack activities, unless otherwise specified. For more about the purpose and parts of the uniform click here.


WHERE TO PURCHASE A UNIFORM AND WHAT TO GET

Scouting supplies are available at the Western Massachusetts Council - Pittsfield Service Center, at Berkshire Common, 2 South Street, Suite 125 (located on street level near Juice and Java), Pittsfield, (413) 684-3542 x3. Call ahead to make sure they are open and have the items in stock or are able to order them. You may also purchase items online at: http://www.scoutstuff.org/.  If you would like to see if there have been donated uniform parts please talk to the Cubmaster.

 

1) Cub Scout uniform shirt, short-sleeve; big enough for your son to wear for a few years.

2) Western Massachusetts Council shoulder patch

3) 2 and 0 numeral patches

4) World Crest patch, purple

6) Neckerchief, orange-Tiger, yellow-Wolf, blue-Bear, plaid-Webelos

7) Cub Scout handbook for the respective rank

8) Any blue pants or jeans you may already have at home. Purchasing uniform pants is optional.
